I would like to share a beginner-level example of a crocheted hippopotamus amigurumi toy with my dear followers. When it comes to a hippopotamus, a few features come to mind. The first of these is definitely the tiny ears. Tiny ears are one of the indispensable features of both real hippos and their crocheted toy versions. I guess these animals have to have small ears because they spend most of their time underwater. Another hippopotamus feature is a very large mouth and nose. We can easily see this in the photo as well.
You can make the amigurumi toy using just a single yarn. Here, I think purple and white tones will work perfectly for you. To create the toy’s eyes and eyebrows, a bit of black yarn will do the job just fine. If you wish, you can use safety eyes specially made for hippos.
